Travelling to Southeast Asia?
CG asked:
I want to travel to an exotic tropical country somewhere in Southeast Asia. I really prefer it to be a place where tourists very seldomly travel to. I don’t mind if it is a little dangerous, for that will just make it more exciting to me. I was originally thinking of Indonesia or Myanmar, but I really want to read some other suggestions. I would be open to non Asian countries as well, as long as they are tropical and very exotic!!

India! South India in the state called Kerala is fairly tropical with backwaters, palms, handmade woven houseboats etc. but swimming may not be the best idea. May not be the type of exotic you are looking for though, but India is beautiful!

Perhaps you can consider going to Sipadan Island in Sabah ( Malaysia ). It is a divers’ paradise. Even non divers are attracted to the beautiful and unspoiled beaches and the serene environment it offers. Though this is a well known destination but you won’t find many tourists around as the number of visitors going to the island is controlled so as not to overcrowd and litter the island and spoiling the coral reefs.
Cambodia. Still an insider tip. Mets exactly what you are looking for. Down the Mekong river, maybe a short trip to Angkor Wat/Siem Riep (but has more tourists). Than to the seaside Koh Kong (border to Thailand, boring), Sihanouk Ville good nightlife also but not to busy), Kep and Kampot (quiet places next to Vietnames border).
If you need more informations, just send me an email. I live in Sihanoukville now since one year and really enjoy.
Give it a try
